Tea Tree Oil Acne Treatment

Tea Tree Oil
Acne Treatment

It's most commonly used as a topical spot-treatment for acne.

Some people are afraid to use it because it is an "oil" and they think that putting oil on a blemish will make it worse.

Acne is not caused by oily skin, it's caused by internal imbalances in the body, such as hormones and digestion/elimination issues.

Tea tree oil is a helpful topical treatment for acne, it's not harmful.

Tea Tree Oil Acne Treatment

Some people are surprised by the strong smell, but it's easy to get used to it, especially because it's so effective.

Reports are that it can sting when you first apply it to your acne blemishes.

Topical acne treatment - Simply dab tea tree oil on acne blemishes. It penetrates into the skin layers and kills bacteria that reside inside the blemishes.

Do this after you've washed and dried your face. Before bed is great. You might want to put a clean towel on your pillow so the oil doesn't get on your pillowcase.

If you have popped any of the blemishes, be prepared that when you apply the oil they will redden more before diminishing (another good reason for doing this before bed).

A great face acne treatment is to do a steam bath for your face first - put boiling water into a heat-safe bowl or pot, drape a towel over your head and let the steam open up your pores. Then do a topical treatment by dabbing the oil on blemishes.

For painful body acne blemishes, take a hot, steamy shower and apply the oil while your pores are still opened. It may sting at first, but will not last for long.

If your skin is extra sensitive to the pain and stinging from applying the oil straight, you can get a liquid soap containing the oil instead for washing your face and body.

Don't use tea tree oil straight as a face or body wash.

It's very potent and must be diluted for large areas of skin contact.
