IBS With Constipation.... Help!
IBS With ConstipationIrritable Bowel Syndrome - often called IBS: Main Symptoms: - abdominal cramping - gas & bloating - contsipation, diarrhea, or both alternating
IBS, with constipation, is pretty common, and it's terribly uncomfortable, sometimes it can be downright incapacitating because you're scared to be too far away from the bathroom (the opposite of constipation!). Stress aggravates it. Totally makes it worse.
What about an IBS Drug?
S.I.B.O.? Doctors will usually prescribe a medication for small intestine bacterial overgrowth.
Certain foods can aggravate IBS with constipation in some people:- gluten for people who are intolerant or allergic to it - white flour foods - white sugar foods and soda pop - dairy can trigger it in some people - deep fried foods - not getting enough dietary soluble fiber can make it worse
If you wish to increase your intake of dietary fibers, both soluble and insoluble, you can get it in your foods. Basically, all plant foods contain some fiber - whole grains and legumes especially, but also fruits, seeds, vegetables and greens. You can also choose to take a supplemental fiber, such as chia, flax, acacia or psyllium. Start with a small amount and increase gradually. Follow the producer's recommendations.

Having candida overgrowth can create or add to symptoms of IBS with or without constipation. It's a common symptom, often made worse by the advice to start eating extremely low carb. This is not a healthy approach! If you want to try eating lower carb, please make the change gradually, not overnight. And, remember that your pipes need some fiber to keep things moving, so if you're committed to eating low carb then some sort of gentle supplemental fiber would be a great idea. I'd recommend this dietary advice strongly - If you tend to eat refined flours and sugars currently, you may find that simply switching to whole grains and whole grain breads, increasing your intake of veggie and greens (cooked as opposed to raw is a good way to start for anyone experiencing IBS with constipation) and avoiding most refined sweeteners and junk foods will make you feel so much better.
