Grapefruit Seed Extract Thrush TreatmentAlso known as GSE or Citricidal, this extract of the seeds and white pith of grapefruits is an effective treatment for thrush. Grapefruit seed extract is well known in the holistic community as a broad-spectrum antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antiparasitic compound. 
A basic protocol for Treatment of Thrush with Grapefruit Seed Extract: Mix one ounce of water with 10 drops of liquid Grapefruit Seed Extract. Use this solution about once an hour on mom's nipples and to swab the inside of baby's mouth, especially the inside of the cheeks, where thrush tends to proliferate. Swab baby's mouth before nursing, but apply the grapefruit seed extract solution to your nipples after nursing. This will prevent your nipples from tasting bitter during nursing. If a yeasty diaper rash occurs you can use this same solution to swab affected area during each diaper change. Make sure the skin is completely dry before putting on the fresh diaper (thrush yeasts love moist warm environments). If this grapefruit seed extract treatment isn't strong enough for a particularly tenacious thrush infection, mom can take the GSE in capsule form (I use empty vegetarian capsules and fill my own, so I can control the dosage). Try 10-15 drops in a capsule swallowed with plenty of water. Remember to take a good probiotic supplement too, to help repopulate the gut with the healthy bacteria that keep thrush/candida yeasts in check.
